Visions and Objectives of the BID 2017-2022

Safe & Inviting

Provide a Safe and inviting environment for visitors, workers and residents to enjoy.
  • Work with the Police to provide an appropriate police presence and an appropriate police response
  • Return of the Rangers to monitor,report and deter anti-social behaviour and crime by working closely with the Police and other agencies; support businesses in addressing issues which affect their business on a day to day basis and welcome everyone, provide support for events and entertainment in the streets and open spaces; help promote the area.
  • Review and refresh Business Crime Reduction Scheme.
  • Better lighting and controlling access to private yards and alleyways by working with landlords and other agencies.
  • Influence, lobby and work with the Council to ensure coverage and monitoring of CCTV across the area at a weekend and support initiatives to provide coverage at additional times
  • Influence, lobby and work with the Council, Police and any other agencies to improve the feeling and perception of personal safety in the area

Smart and Attractive

To make the area smart and attractive and encourage a sense of pride in St Peters Quarter.
  • Targeted and additional street and deep cleaning.
  • Supporting landlords to smarten up properties.
  • Influence the use of, add or remove  Street furniture, floral displays and festive and creative lighting
  • Work with landlords, agents and others to help ensure vacant properties and derelict properties are maintained and presented in a smart and tidy way
  • Encourage plans and proposals for new buildings, building refurbishments and and public realm developments.
Welcome and Accessible

To create an enjoyable and easily accessible place to explore for visitors, workers and residents

By working with, lobbying and influencing Derby City Council, the Police and any other appropriate organisations to improve:
  • the 'parking experience'
  • traffic flow, cycle routes and pedestrian safety.
  • the management of peddlers, charity collectors, buskers and other traders.
  • information and signage to improve pedestrian flow around the area.
Monitor results: footfall, commerical performance, parking statistics and customer perceptions, provide regular reports for businesses.
