Easter Activity

App Man and SPQ resident singer Lily Taylor-Ward will be adding extra sparkle to the Easter quiz trail on Saturday 19 April organised by the BID to encourage more people to stay and explore the area.

Visitors can collect forms from the St Peters Quarter gazebo in East Street between 11am and 3pm or from App Man who will be out and about in the area.

Questions will guide visitors around the area through a set of clues with a code at each business which needs to be written down on the form.

All completed entries need to be handed back in at the gazebo by 3.30pm that day and will be entered into a prize draw that will be drawn on 22 April to win £100 vouchers from either Waterstones, HMV or Game with £30 vouchers for the runner up.

Please encourage your customers to take part in this fun family activity.

The Eagle Market is putting its backing to Sight Support Derbyshire's Easter Treasure Hunt in aid of the charity which runs until 26 April.

Forty ducks have been hidden around the city centre and Eagle Market and the forms, which cost £2 are available from the Market.

Egg Appeal

wathallG. Wathall & Son have organised their second Easter Egg Appeal and tomorrow (Wednesday 16 April) is the final day to support this charity event.

Local companies, groups and individuals have been donating chocolate eggs to the funeral directors premises in Macklin Street which are then given to children in under privileged families.

If you would prefer your donated eggs to be collected, please contact G. Wathall & Son Ltd., on 01332 345268 or 01335 300205.

Easter Quiz Trail

SPQ logoThe BID will be organising an Easter quiz trail on Saturday 19 April to encourage more people to stay and explore the area.

Raising the Profile

An eye-catching floor graphic advertising St Peters Quarter loyalty app has been created on the floor of the Bus Station.  This follows the successful screen advertising campaign at the busy venue.

The Bus Station is used by more than one million people a month so this is a cost effective way of raising the profile of the area and promoting the app to an ideal target audience.

Tidy Businesses

The business tidy event was a huge success last week with a wide range of businesses including Barclays, McDonalds, NCP, G Wathall and Son and Central United Reformed Church joining the Rangers and Streetpride to spruce up the area.

Many thanks to everyone who took part and please do continue to do your bit to ensure that the area around your business is kept clean and tidy and therefore welcoming to visitors.

 THI Launch

The launch of the Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI)  in The Lanes has attracted widespread interest from both local businesses and the local media with features in the Derby Telegraph, Radio Derby and both BBC and ITV Central news. The St Peters Quarter BID was heavily involved in the application for the funding and the partnership work with the City Council was praised by the sanctioning body.

Funded by Heritage Lottery Fund and the City Council, this five year scheme will help certain historic buildings in Green Lane and neighbouring streets to be sympathetically restored. Grant aid of up to 80% will be available for comprehensively improving eligible buildings.

Anyone interested in the scheme should contact the new THI project officer, Dr Valeria Passetti by email:

 Bow Boutique

Jeanette McFadden, who has run Kezia in Green for the past 25 years, has now teamed up with her daughter Charlotte Simons to re-launch the business as Bow Boutique - focusing on a younger market who are keen to follow celebrity inspired fashion.

Jeanette said: "We needed a facelift and I was delighted when Charlotte said that she would join the business.

"The younger generation find this so much easier and Charlotte has already built up a good following from younger customers who are particularly keen on the designs that are featured in the celebrity magazines."
