This is seen by potentially thousands of people every day who use the transport hub in and out of the city.(Estimated passenger flow is 1M per month)

The floor graphics and key messages will be regularly updated and are a key part of the overall marketing efforts to raise the profile of the area.

 St Peter's Cross

The ground works at St Peter's Cross are now complete, ahead of programme, within budget and delivers the original vision set out some time ago.

The work, which was completed in time for Saturday's Caribbean Carnival, has been welcomed by local businesses including Cathryn Saxe, manager at Costa Coffee.

She said: "I am pleased with the completion of the paving work which looks splendid, as do the seats. Obviously it will be even more eye-catching once the church cleaning and up lighting is complete by the beginning of September."

The final parts of the project, the cleaning of St Peter's Church and its new lighting will now start and be complete towards the end of August.

Business Tidy Day - Wednesday 30 July

The next St Peters Quarter Tidy Day, sponsored by McDonalds, will be held on Wednesday 30 July starting at 7am outside McDonalds in St Peter's Street.

A wide range of businesses have already signed up to be involved. McDonalds  will be serving breakfast to everyone at the end of the activity which is due to finish at around 8.30am.

If you would like to get involved in this worthwhile activity, please contact Ian Hinds by Tel: 01332 419050 or email

All Change at The Spot

Work is due to start soon on-site at The Spot which will revitalise the area for use by the local community and visitors from further afield.

As part of the works in the area, the public toilets at The Spot closed permanently on 20 July 2014.

Surveys are now being carried out including checks for roosting bats and asbestos before planned demolition of the toilets later this summer in advance of the public realm improvements.

These improvements follow two public consultations last year at which the majority of the public agreed to the removal of the toilets, to be replaced with a new and more open public space.  The date for demolition will be confirmed once the results of the surveys are known.

The BID has been working closely with Derby City Council to ensure the regeneration of The Spot was a priority.

Safer Neighbourhood Day

derbyshire police logoThe Safer Neighbourhood Day in partnership with Derbyshire Police last week was a great success.

More than 40 businesses were visited by the Safer Neighbourhood Team.  The St Peters Quarter gazebo was also well attended where the Community Safety team handed out personal alarms and the Rangers distributed the new mini guides.

 Age UK

'Age UK Derby and Derbyshire will have RemPods in the centre of the Eagle Market on Wednesday 30 July, 13 August, 20 August and 27 August 2014.

These will advertise 'google down memory lane' computer courses. The use of the RemPods we hope will encourage older, and younger, Market visitors to learn how to use handheld devices (laptops, etc), learn new skills and reduce isolation and loneliness in the community.'
